Former Rangers director Paul Murray stepped up his plans to launch a buyout of the beleaguered Glasgow club yesterday, amid fears that he would not be allowed to rejoin the board if his consortium succeeds.
Although Murray left the board nine months before the club went into administration last month, Rangers' insolvency means he could fall foul of the Scottish Football Association's rule on "fit and proper" officials.
Despite uncertainties among even the SFA's legal team, the rule appears to exclude anyone who has been a "director of a club... within the five-year period preceding such club having undergone an insolvency event."
