Rod Petrie, the Hibernian managing director, has urged the Old Firm to explain the reason why they pulled the plug on the Scottish Premier League television channel. Celtic and Rangers withdrew their support from the concept of SPL TV yesterday – the same day clubs had to make up their minds on the idea for it to go ahead for next season.
Both Glasgow clubs claimed the proposal was too big a risk and withdrew, leaving the other 10 clubs facing an uncertain future without TV revenue.
Petrie, who is acting as a spokesman for the 10 other SPL clubs, said: "The clubs are very disappointed at the actions of the Old Firm. They have ignored the best advice received which all indicated that the business plan was robust and sustainable."
