Kroos says the best players in the world need to play for Madrid and that includes Mbappe.
He told Goal: “In the summer I already said that I would like a player like him to come, but if he doesn’t we have a good team.
“Let’s see what happens in the future, it is difficult for me to say because I am not the one who decides. His quality has not changed, he is a good player and what we know is that Madrid wanted to sign him but in the end they didn’t succeed.
“Everything continues, also without Mbappe here. I think we are doing well and for the future my opinion has not changed: the best players have to be at Madrid and he is sure to be one of them.”
Kroos, who retired from international football earlier this year, was a part of Madrid’s team who suffered a shock Champions League defeat to Sheriff on Tuesday.
The Moldova club defeated the Spanish giants 2-1 in a thriller and manager Carlo Ancelotti said it wasn’t the club’s night.
“Everything went well for them while everything we did turned out badly,” he said. More than worried we are sad. We played with intensity and commitment but lost due to the finest details. The team played well, we could have been sharper in the area but it’s difficult to explain what happened.
“The small details cost us the game and we should learn from that in the future. But this was a defeat we did not deserve.”
