Alex Teixeira to Liverpool: Reds transfer in danger of being hijacked as Chinese side Jiangsu Suning make £37m offer

Liverpool could pay the price for failing to meet Shakhtar Donest’s full asking price after it emerged that Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning as the Far East football revolution continues to see leading names in European football head to China in big money deals.

Jackson Martinez, Gervinho and Fredy Guarin have all completed transfers to Chinese sides over the past five weeks, and according to Italian website Calciomercato.com, Teixeira is the next man on the target list.

It’s claimed that Jiangsu are ready to make a €50m [£37m] offer for the Brazilian attacking midfielder, just a week after Liverpool refused to meet the same figure having seen a £24.5m bid rejected.

Teixeira has been in fantastic form this season, having scored 26 goals in as many games, and despite the 26-year-old being uncapped by his country, he is knocking on the door for inclusion in their squad for the Copa America later this summer.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Teixeira but a deadline day bid failed to materialise after the Reds were put off by the hefty price tag Shakthar placed on him, with the Ukrainian club’s general director, Sergiy Palkin, claiming that the Premier League side would need to meet his £53m buy-out clause.

The report adds that while an agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs, personal terms with the player are expected to be a formality and the move could be sealed in the coming days.
