Andreas Pereira is nearing a season-long loan move to Lazio after Manchester United reached an agreement in principle with the Serie A club.

Pereira's loan is yet to be finalised but will see Lazio cover his wages in full for the duration of his stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio will also have an option to sign Pereira permanently as part of the loan agreement, with the 24-year-old not in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for the forthcoming campaign.

Pereira penned a new four-year contract at Old Trafford in July 2019, having regularly appeared off the substitutes' bench during Solskjaer's first months in charge.

The Brazil international's playing time gradually dried up last season, however, with no starts since a Europa League win over Club Brugge in February.

Pereira is one of several fringe players at United who could depart before Monday's transfer deadline, with the likes of Diogo Dalot and Chris Smalling also understood to be attracting interest from Serie A.

Roma remain eager to sign Smalling on a permanent basis following his impressive loan spell last season, while Dalot is understood to be attracting interest from Milan.
