Antoine Griezmann has admitted that his future at Atletico Madrid would be in doubt if Diego Simeone left the club.

Despite being linked with a number of clubs both in Spain and abroad, the Frenchman signed a new contract with the La Liga club this summer, keeping him there until 2021.

The 25-year-old had held talks over a possible move back to France with PSG prior to Euro 2016 but he ultimately opted to settle for Atletico.

Griezmann has openly declared that he is happy to stay at the Vincente Calderon Stadium, but hinted that he could be persuaded to move on if coach Simeone leaves.

"The only doubt would be if Simeone leaves for PSG or wherever," he told Telefoot.

"I called him before extending my contract and he confirmed to me that he was staying.

"I can learn a lot from him. PSG are not my goal at the moment.

"I’m happy in Spain. I'm always proud to be popular with the fans. I try to smile and do my best. If they like it, it's even better.”

Griezmann has impressed in recent months for both club and country. He scored 32 goals for Atletico last season and was awarded the Golden Boot at Euro 2016.

This form has unsurprisingly caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have been linked with a world record swoop for the French striker next summer, although he has emerged as a target for PSG too.

Paul Pogba prompted recent speculation by posting a picture on Instagram of himself with Griezmann while away on international duty.

Atletico paid Real Sociedad £24m for Griezmann in 2014 and he has since established himself as one of the continent's standout attacking talents.

Griezmann, however, is yet to land any major silverware with the club - something he will be seeking to rectify this season.

As for Simeone, the Argentine had considered his managerial position following Atletico’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid in May but he too eventually decided to commit his future to the club.
