Arsenal are once again great going forward this season but vulnerable defensively again, so it is a blessing that the transfer window is finally open.

Arsene Wenger had said that any movement in the transfer market this January was unlikely but has since changed his mind. Thomas Vermaelen remains injured leaving Arsenal with just Laurent Koscielny, Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci to fill two centre back positions.
