Fulham have signed Arsenal midfielder Thomas Eisfeld from Arsenal on a two-year deal.

The deal represents something of a coup for the relegated side as they bid to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The 21-year-old former Borussia Dortmund player arrived at the Emirates in 2012 with hopes that he would make a quick progression into the first-team.

Speaking last year, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "He is a Pires type. He appears to be in the box without being noisy and appearing suddenly. When he is there, he finishes well."

However Eisfeld found his chances limited at Arsenal with just two Capital One Cup appearances to his name and with an array of midfield talents at Wenger's disposal, even more so following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez earlier this summer, his departure has been sanctioned.

The Germany Under-20 international has an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months at Craven Cottage.

"Thomas Eisfeld has joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee," read a statement on Arsenal's official website. "Everyone at the club would like to thank Thomas for his contribution and to wish him well for the future."

Eisfeld follows £11m signing Ross McCormack to Fulham as well as numerous others including Konstantinos Stafylidis and Adam Taggart as Felix MaGath performs a complete overhaul of the squad.
