Arsenal could be preparing a move for Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Mario Suarez, according to reports in Spain.
Suarez, 27, was a key part of Diego Simeone's La Liga winning side last season but has found himself out of favour in recent weeks.
Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, speaking on El Chiringuito TV, said the Gunners could make a cut-price move for the defensive midfielder.
With Arsene Wenger making a defensive midfielder his top target in the January window, Suarez - who has won two caps for Spain - could be a cheaper alternative to William Carvalho and other reported targets.

Suarez has been at Atletico since moving from Mallorca in 2010, helping the club to a Europa League, Copa del Rey, Spanish title and the final of the Champions League last season.
