Arsenal transfer news: Kieran Tierney completes £25m move from Celtic with David Luiz set to be confirmed
After a protracted saga of negotiations, Arsenal have completed the signing of the Scottish left-back
Arsenal have completed the £25m signing of Kieran Tierney from Celtic after a summer of protracted negotiations with the Scottish champions.
The 22-year-old full-back has signed a five-year contract after personal terms were finalised today.
Arsenal had two bids rejected for Tierney earlier in the window due to the structure of how instalments would be paid but the club were always confident that a deal would eventually get over the line.
An agreement was finally reached with Celtic last night with the player travelling down to London to complete his medical this morning.
Tierney came through the academy at Celtic and made 170 appearances for the club over six seasons.
“I’m a Celtic boy, born and raised,” Tierney said.
“Joined my boyhood club, came up through the ranks and earned my place. Now, I’ve come to London and I want to make some noise.”
Arsenal are also set to complete the signing of David Luiz from Chelsea after a fee of £8m was agreed between the two rivals.
The Brazilian is currently undergoing a medical at London Colney.
