Bournemouth transfer news: Glenn Murray signs three-year deal after Cherries agree £4m fee with Crystal Palace

Bournemouth have completed the signing of striker Glenn Murray from fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace on a three-year deal thought to be worth in the region of £4m.

Murray did well to recover from a serious knee injury two years ago to feature in the second half of Palace’s return to the Premier League, and the former Brighton, Rochadale and Carlisle forward became a regular fixture in the side during last year’s successful campaign in which he netted seven goals after spending the first half of the campaign on loan with Reading in the Championship.

However, Palace’s impressive transfer business this summer – in which both Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford arrived – means that Murray has fallen down the pecking order, and the 31-year-old was given permission to travel south to Dean Court this morning where he has completed a deal to join the Cherries.

Speaking after the move was announced, Murray told afcb.co.uk: "It feels great to finally be here.

"I've come across the club a lot in my career and it's been great to see it progress.

"The way the boys play football is very exciting. It's front-footed and it will be nice to try and get some goals from it."

Having made 125 appearances for Palace since joining from rivals Brighton & Hove Albion in 2011, Murray netted 47 times for the Eagles, and he links up with Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe having been named in the Football Manager Team of the Decade at this year’s Football League Awards that saw the Cherries’ manager named as boss of the award-winning side.

Murray’s crowning glory came when he helped fire Palace to promotion from the Championship in 2012/13, only for a serious knee injury to rule him out for the first half of the next season in the top flight.
