Wes Brown and John O'Shea completed moves to Sunderland from Manchester United yesterday, both defenders signing four-year deals.
Sunderland had a joint bid of more than £12m for Brown, O'Shea and midfielder Darron Gibson accepted by United last month.
The Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan is also close to agreeing a free transfer to the Stadium of Light. Vaughan would be manager Steve Bruce's ninth signing of the summer as he overhauls a side that tailed off badly in the second half of last season.
