Arsenal have rejected a loan offer from Southampton to re-sign Calum Chambers, according to reports.
Chambers joined the Gunners from the Saints for £16m last summer, and made 17 starts for Arsenal last season in the Premier League.
With Southampton having sold Nathaniel Clyne earlier this summer, Chambers was the perfect replacement.
Arsenal, however, have rebuffed the approach for the 20-year-old, who began his career at St Mary's, according to the Daily Mirror.
Another youngster who will be staying at Arsenal next season is Jeff Reine-Adelaide, the 17-year-old French midfielder who impressed at the Emirates Cup this past weekend.
"He is 17 years old and he looks very promising but he needs to work with us for a year in the first team," manager Arsene Wenger said. "To be an adult, to play for the under-21s and to develop. There is fantastic potential there but he will stay with us."
The Gunners won the friendly tournament after beating Lyon 6-0 and Wolfsburg 1-0.
