Bidding war?

Chelsea are preparing a €52m plus Andre Schurrle bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports in Italy.

Only yesterday to was reported that Manchester United were weighing up an €80m offer for the much-coveted 21-year-old, who left United in 2012.

Number Juan priority..

The 26-year-old Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado is highly rated throughout the club's hierarchy and is the overwhelming first choice when it comes to improving the squad in this window, reported by Sam Wallace in today's The Independent.

The club hope to move on Mohamed Salah or Schurrle before completing the deal.

Staying put...

Chelsea's £30m target, Mauro Icardi, will stay at Inter Milan, according to the striker's agent, Vincenzo Marabito.

"I'm a little surprised by these rumours as Chelsea have Diego Costa and Didier Drogba in attack. They do not want another striker," Morabito said.

"Diego Costa is going big things and it seems unlikely Icardi will be owned by Chelsea.

"I think there are plans in place at this time in which there is to be discussions over the renewal of the player's contract."
