Chelsea will have to offer at least £30m if they wish to sign Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 19 goals in 13 Ukrainian Premier League appearances this season, has emerged as one of the club’s targets as they look to inject new blood into a misfiring forward line.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Teixeira’s has two years remaining on his contract at the Donbass Arena and the defending champions have been told they will have to pay a substantial price in order to secure his services.

Chelsea’s current strike force, Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy, have all struggled to find the net with regularity this term and their respective goal droughts have contributed to the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.

Teixeira, who operates as Shakhtar’s focal point in attack, has previously confirmed his interest in moving to Stamford Bridge, saying: “I have an offer, it was a pleasure to know that Chelsea want to sign me. It would be great if the transfer happens in January.”

The Brazilian attacking midfielder began his career at Vasco de Gama before, like several of his countrymen before him, moving into European football through Shakhtar.

He is yet to represent Brazil at full international level but has played for both the Under-17 and Under-20 national sides.
