Real Madrid lift the Champions League trophy

Sergio Ramos has urged his Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo to “clarify his future” immediately, after the Portuguese forward appeared to suggest he was on the verge of walking away from the Champions League winning club.

Ronaldo did not score in the 3-1 win over Liverpool in Kiev, but did finish the tournament as the top-scorer with 15 goals.

And after the win he appeared to open the door to a move away from the club.

When asked about his future, Ronaldo said: “The main thing was to win, to go down in history”.

He was then pressed on the question by a Spanish journalist, adding: “Now it's time to enjoy this. In the next few days I'll give the fans, who have been by my side, an answer. It's been great being at Real Madrid.

“I'll speak in the next few days. Now it's time to enjoy the moment. The future of any player isn't important. We've made history.”

When informed about these comments, Real Madrid captain Ramos urged Ronaldo to immediately clarify his leading comments.

“I suppose he will have been speaking about a summary of the season,” Ramos said when informed about the interview.

“If there is something there, he must clarify it today.

“He is a key piece for us. He could not be in a better place.”

Meanwhile Gareth Bale – who scored one of the greatest goals ever seen in a Champions League final to help Real win the game – also suggested he would be open to a summer transfer away from the club.
