Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has suggested the Eagles could be about to sign a new player this afternoon.

The 54-year-old has been linked with moves for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams and a return to Newcastle United to raid them for Fabricio Coloccini.

"I’d like to think we’d get one done today," Pardew told Sky Sports.

"I’m not going to give you a name because I never do until they are completely done. If we can get him over the line he’s an exciting player as well. I’ll be looking forward to seeing him."

Pardew was speaking after watching his side draw 1-1 with Fulham on Saturday and admits he may be tempted to add to his summer transfer haul of Yohan Cabaye, Connor Wickham, Patrick Bamford and Alex McCarthy.

"We’ve got a bit more business to do," he added. "We might have to bring one more in but we’re pretty close. I’d run through the season with the group we’ve got now. We’re a fuller group with strength in every position. We’re well set."

It would seem unlikely to be Williams, however, after the Swansea and Wales captain insisted he is not leaving the Liberty Stadium this summer.

He said: "I'll be staying. The gaffer has already said that. I'm used to dealing with the speculation and bids. It's part of the job and I just take it as a compliment and shows that you're doing your job properly.

"I'm committed to Swansea and just concentrating on Swansea this pre-season."
