Daniel Sturridge: Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs could all move for Liverpool striker if he leaves Anfield

With the forward reported to be ready to leave Anfield this summer; we take a look at where he might end up

Arsenal
Should Sturridge leave Anfield during the summer the Emirates could well be his likeliest destination. Arsenal tried to sign the striker from Chelsea in January 2013, but were put off by Chelsea’s £12m asking price. Arsene Wenger will be in the market for a striker at the end of the season and could renew his interest in the 26-year-old. Sturridge also supported Arsenal as a child, once telling the Liverpool Echo: “As a boy I loved Arsenal at the time. I supported Arsenal because of Ian Wright, and then Thierry Henry. They were characters, they scored goals, and everything about them I just loved.”

Chelsea
The Blues need a striker (or two) with the likely departure of Diego Costa in the summer, so Sturridge could be under consideration. Sturridge spent three-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge before joining Liverpool but rarely had a run in the first team and managed only 24 goals in that time. He may not fancy a return to a club where he would once again be a squad player.

Manchester City
The club where Sturridge began his career as a trainee, moving to the academy as a child and going on to make 21 appearances for the first team. The striker says Manchester City is ‘in his heart’, but with Pep Guardiola taking over in the summer and likely to bring in a host of world-class players, the chances of Sturridge moving to the Etihad are (at best) slim.

Tottenham
An intriguing possibility and, again, Spurs could be on the lookout for a striker during the summer to take some of the burden off Harry Kane. The question is would Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs manage, be willing to part with £20m for Sturridge when he would not pay £25m for West Brom’s Saido Berahino this month.

West Ham
Another outside bet – West Ham move to the Olympic Stadium this summer and will be looking for marquee signings. There was plenty of speculation that the Hammers wanted Sturridge this month, but transfer deadline day came and went. It is safe to say David Gold and David Sullivan will be keeping an eye on Sturridge’s situation.  The striker, however, will want Champions League football, and that may rule out a move to east London.

Manchester United
Highly unlikely, however bad things are up front for United. Liverpool players do not move to Old Trafford. It has not happened since the 1960s and it will not happen now.
 

PSG
Sturridge would prefer to stay in the Premier League, but if the Ligue 1 champions show interest the lure of Champions League football would surely be hard to turn down.
