Everton are reportedly holding talks with Manchester United as they bid to thrash out a deal for Morgan Schneiderlin ahead of the January transfer window.

This follows Jose Mourinho’s admission that he would be “open to offers” for those players currently dissatisfied at the club.

It’s believed Mourinho will not stand in Schneiderlin’s way as the players looks to pursue the guarantee of first-team football outside of Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, Ronald Koeman is keen to bring Schneiderlin to Goodison Park having worked with the Frenchman during their time together at Southampton.

Memphis Depay is another player understood to have been given the green light to leave United and Koeman could be tempted to sign the Dutchman on loan.

The pair have been pushed to the fringes of the United squad under Jose Mourinho and the manager publicly stated ahead of Wednesday’s game at Selhurst Park that: “I am always open to listen to offers for every player.

“Any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival.

"When Mata left Chelsea to come to United, no problem at all. I am always open.

“What I can say is that I am happy with the squad. I would like my (current) squad to be my squad until the end of the season.”

Schneiderlin has made just three domestic appearances for Mourino this season, with team mate Depay on four. The two joined United in the summer of 2015 for a respective £25m.
