Gareth Bale will reject interest from the Premier League this summer according to reports, despite enduring his toughest spell since joining Real Madrid.

The Wales international has been booed by his own fans on a regular basis this season, with supporters angered by a perceived selfish style and tendency to go missing during matches.

The situation has led to speculation Bale will be sold in the summer, just two years after joining from Tottenham for a world record £86m. However reports today suggest Bale is desperate to remain at the Bernabeu and win over the fans. Such a decision will frustrate a number of Premier League sides keen on signing the 25-year-old.

Manchester United tried to sign Bale when he left Spurs and remain keen on bringing him to Old Trafford. Chelsea have also been linked, as have champions Manchester City.

Bale is currently with the Wales squad, providing some respite from the unsettling situation in the Spanish capital. Yet despite his current problems, international team-mate Joe Allen has played down the effect it's been having.

"He’s the same as usual," said the Liverpool midfielder. "He’s a world-class player who shows that in every minute in every session. It is great to have him here and I doubt the Israelis will be looking forward to facing him.

“I don’t get the impression that he is someone who is fazed by these sorts of things. It comes with the territory at a club like that and I doubt it has too much influence on him.”

Swansea defender Neil Taylor suggests Bale has grown used to Real’s daily dramas. “He’s fine, normal Gareth,” he said. “I think he’s become a bit acclimatised to how his life is now with stuff like that. I think you brush everything off quite easily. He’s played in enough big games now to be able to deal with all of that.”
