Jans Reker, the PSV Eindhoven technical director, has claimed that the club will receive a larger transfer fee than has been reported for the sale of their goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to Tottenham Hotspur.

The two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee on Friday and the Brazilian is now awaiting a work permit before completing his move.

But Reker has rejected reports that the transfer fee is €9m (£7m) – although he declined to say how much it is.

"Gomes is going to Tottenham for a justifiable number of euros," he told the Dutch newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad. "I will make no more statements about this transfer. That is what we agreed with Spurs. We are satisfied. We get what we are entitled to."

Gomes had a release clause in his contract set at €14m and the 27-year-old leaves PSV under something of a cloud after a long dispute, primarily with Reker, over the running of the club.

However, the director said the player will get a chance to say a proper goodbye. "Nothing stands in the way of such a farewell," he said.
