Arsene Wenger has hinted that Arsenal are interested in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, suggesting that he is weighing up a summer move for Switzerland international.

Speaking to the press today ahead of the Gunners' Premier League game against Watford on Saturday, Wenger was asked on his interest in the player, and said he is currently compiling a shortlist on targets.

"At the moment we are starting to analyse players and get little lists of names, but I don’t think it’s the time for us to come out with names," Wenger said.

When probed by the reporter if Xhaka was on the list, Wenger joked: "I will send you the list if you want!"

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with the Gunners in the last transfer window, and recent reports have claimed that the club are tabling a £35m bid for the highly-rated player.

Xhaka has made 40 appearances for Switzerland, scoring six goals.
