Harry Kane to Manchester United: Tottenham striker could regret turning down transfer, warns Teddy Sheringham

Sheringham himself made the move from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford

Harry Kane could regret turning down a move to Manchester United should the opportunity arise, Teddy Sheringham has warned.

The Tottenham striker is enjoying another fine season and reports suggest that Manchester United and other powerful clubs could move for the 22-year-old this summer.

Kane has always insisted he has no desire to leave White Hart Lane, however one of his idols believes he should consider the opportunity if it comes along.

"I’m sure there are top clubs looking at him and they’d be prepared to break the bank just because of the way he plays and the way he wants to score goals every time he gets the ball," Sheringham said at Carlsberg’s Uefa Euro 2016 Trophy tour.

"Should he move right now? I don’t know. Timing’s a funny thing in football because you have to take the opportunity when it arises. If you don’t, another striker might go to United or Real Madrid or whoever we’re talking about and you won’t get the chance again for another four or five years.

"You’ve only got a period of about 12 years in professional football and when these things come along you have to take tough decisions. Sometimes they feel right and you have to go with the flow."

Sheringham himself made the move from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford and would win three league titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League during his four years at Manchester United before returning to Tottenham.
