Eden Hazard to Manchester United, Harry Kane to Real Madrid, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea
TRANSFER TALK: The latest news and gossip
Harry Kane has probably just about come to terms with how his life has transformed in the last year or so. This morning, though, he has another twist to contend with. According to the Daily Telegraph, he’s destined for the Santiago Bernabeu, as Real Madrid sniff around the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
Los Blancos are believed to have sat up and taken note when the England international scored twice against Chelsea on New Year’s Day last year, which capped off a run of seven goals in eight games, and the 22-year-old striker could yet be a key part of the club’s rebuilding plans.
Several senior players at the Spanish club are at a crossroads in their career, not least Cristiano Ronaldo, and president Florentino Perez is keen to replace their waning stars with the continent’s most exciting talents. Kane, it is suggested, falls into that bracket and any potential deal would be eased by the “decent understanding” that has been built between the two clubs.
Elsewhere, another day, another suitor for Eden Hazard. This time, it’s Manchester United, who have apparently been drawn towards the out-of-sorts Chelsea winger after their pursuit of Gareth Bale hit the bricks.
The Daily Star suggest that the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is ready to table a £65million bid for the Belgium international, somewhat below the £97million price tag independently wrapped around his pinky finger earlier this week.
It may seem like a lot of money for a player who has not scored a Premier League goal this season but that will not deter United, nor Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich, who are also in for the 25-year-old.
If you thought that was fanciful, how about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain attracting interest from Chelsea?
The Sun reports that the 22-year-old has been lined up by the Stamford Bridge outfit as a replacement for Hazard should he leave, with former boss Jose Mourinho a big fan of the player.
That interest, according to the report, has not waned despite the Portuguese manager’s departure and they would be interested in offering the England international a new challenge, if Arsenal were ever minded to sell to an immediate rival.
Chelsea: Potential transfer targets
Show all 10Romelu Lukaku’s brilliant form of late has caught the attention of many, including Manchester United.
According to the Daily Mirror, Woodward, Louis van Gaal and co. looked at signing the Belgium international last summer but decided against making an official bid.
This time around, their interest is serious and, although they do not expect to tempt Everton in this current transfer window, an all-out offensive may be launched at the end of the season.
Another young Englishman potentially on the move is Saido Berahino, although for once, he’s not been linked with Tottenham.
Instead, it’s Stoke City who want to add the 22-year-old to their ranks and rescue him from his troubles under West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis.
The promising England Under-21 international has made 15 appearances for his current club this year, scoring three goals, and according to the Guardian, Mark Hughes is contemplating a bid.
