In demand striker Edinson Cavani 'doesn't want to move' say Napoli

Italian club Napoli have insisted that their star striker Edinson Cavani is not for sale and does not want to leave.

This statement comes amidst speculation that the Uruguayan has been linked to a host of Europe’s top clubs, including Inter Milan, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris St Germain.

Most recently Juventus joined the chase, making an offer for the player who is under contract until 2015.

Cavani caught the world’s attention with his fine form last season with his 23 goals helping Napoli secure fifth place in Serie A, but the club's sporting director Riccardo Bigon says the striker will not be leaving.

"Cavani is not for sale and he doesn't want to move from Naples," he told Corriere dello Sport.

"I reiterate that Cavani will remain at Napoli."

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has moved to see off any potential suitors by putting an £80m price tag on Cavani.

Clearly perturbed by the idea of paying over the odds, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has denied rumours linking City to the player who scored three goals against his  Manchester side in last season’s Champions League.
