Jack Wilshere’s decision to move to Bournemouth on loan in a bid to revitalise his career has raised eyebrows across the country.

The Arsenal midfielder’s choice of the south coast club is seen as particularly surprising in some quarters given that the likes of Milan and Roma were reportedly interested.

Wilshere, who also turned down a switch to Crystal Palace, has now arrived in Bournemouth and is expected to join Eddie Howe’s Cherries on Wednesday evening, provided he passes a medical.

That’s no certain thing, of course. Many jokers on social media are speculating that the deal may fall at the eleventh hour given the 24-year-old’s chequered injury record.

Others, meanwhile, have been quick to note that Wilshere is the second member of England’s doomed European Championships squad to be sent out on loan to a less illustrious club.

It seems that, even though he’s simply a promising footballer trying to get his career back on track, some people can’t help but have a dig.

Here’s the best reaction from social media…

Poor Jack.
