Javier Hernandez has thanked Sir Alex Ferguson as he leaves Manchester United for Bayer Leverkusen, but has chosen to avoid any mention of former managers Louis van Gaal and David Moyes.

Hernandez, who has the nickname 'Chicharito', posted on Instagram last night:

"I want to thank Sir Alex Ferguson and Jim Lawlor [chief scout], the club staff, all the players I played with,” he wrote on his personal Instagram account, with the image seen above.

"But especially I want to thank all the Manchester United fans in the UK and all around the world for the incredible support I've had this past four years and all the best wishes they have for me in my new chapter!!"

Hernandez, 27, moved to United from Guadalajara in 2010, but faltered after an impressive start with the team. He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid. He completed a £7m move ot Bayer Leverkusen this week.

But was the Van Gaal snub anything to do with how the manager reacted to his penalty miss last weekend.
