Stoke City have bought Joselu from Hannover 96, their third signing of the summer so far.
The Spanish striker has joined for €8million (£5.75m) joining centre-back Phillip Wollscheid - who was on loan at the club last season - and goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard.
Joselu, a former Spain U21 international, scored eight goals for Hannover last season.
"Joselu has an excellent pedigree and is a player we have been tracking for some time," Mark Hughes told the club website.
"He has skills and attributes that are different to what we already have within the squad but will complement the attacking players we already have at our disposal.
"Joselu is excited about testing himself in the Premier League and we’re delighted to have him with us."
The 25-year-old was bought by Real Madrid in 2009 but only played one game for the senior team in three years, although he did impress for Real Madrid B.
He becomes the third Spaniard in the Stoke squad alongside Marc Muniesa and Bojan.
