Leicester City tie Demarai Gray down to new four-year contract to end speculation over England Under-21 winger's future
The promising wideman had waited to see who took over as manager before committing his future
Leicester City have succeeded in convincing promising winger Demarai Gray to sign a new four-year contract at the King Power Stadium.
The 21-year-old had been in talks over a fresh deal for months after summer interest from Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Tottenham and has finally inked a deal that will run until 2021.
Gray, who had confirmed a deal was close earlier this week told the club website: "I'm very happy. Now I just want to kick on and keep doing what I'm doing. I want to be starting games and, for me to be doing that, I have to work hard in training.
"As a whole, we're a good group and we have a good dressing room. Now I want to get my head down and keep kicking on for the team.
"For me personally, it's now about developing as a player and the rest will take care of itself."
Gray arrived at Leicester in January 2016 with the Foxes surprise Premier League leaders. The £3.5m signing helped get City over the line, winning their first-ever Premier League title, and he has since earned international honours with England's Under-21s.
But there have been whispers of frustration, a lack of game time under former managers Claudio Ranieri and Craig Shakespeare as Gray was trapped behind Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton in the pecking order.
That frustration will no doubt have been lifted by the new contract which marks out the talented young wideman as a key part of Leicester's future.
