Leonardo Bonucci’s agent has insisted the defender will be going nowhere this January – despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Italy international moved to AC Milan from Juventus last summer in a £40m deal, but has found life at the San Siro tough going.

Milan have endured a miserable start to the season and currently sit 11th in the table, 16-points behind fierce city rivals Internazionale and a full 21-points behind league leaders Napoli.

The club’s poor form have resulted in rumours that a number of their stars are angling for a move away, but Bonucci’s agent has insisted he will stay at Milan and help lead them out of trouble.

“Leonardo is a Milan player, and he chose to play for Milan and will continue to pursue his objectives there,” Bonucci’s representative, Alessandro Lucci, told Sky Sport Italia.

“He's a great professional, a leader, and he wants to get out of this situation and help the club reach the objectives they deserve.”

Bonucci is meanwhile staying calm about Milan’s poor run of form and recently drew parallels with his first season at reigning champions Juventus.

“It's true, I can see a lot of similarities between the start here at Milan and my first year at Juventus,” he told Forza Milan magazine.

“We had the new signings, the initial enthusiasm. The only difference was at the start: at Juve, we were top in December but then had an inexplicable collapse, whereas here we've had problems gelling as a group.

“We knew it would be difficult, but maybe we could have done with a bit more luck.”
