Luis Suarez could return to Liverpool - that's the belief of former manager Brendan Rodgers. The Uruguay international left in the summer of 2014 after nearly firing Liverpool to the Premier League title and if he was to ever return to the Premier League, it could only be at Anfield according to Rodgers. "I think he certainly misses the passion of the Liverpool supporters", the out-of-work manager told TalkSport.

Liverpool have reportedly submitted a bid to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip. The 24-year-old has been on Jurgen Klopp's wishlist since his days with Borussia Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga title twice, and now the Reds manager has made his move it's claimed by Sky Sports. Matip, an industrious defender with 27 caps for Cameroon, is believed to have informed the German outfit of his desire to leave for Anfield with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Liverpool have been alerted to the possibility that 18-year-old goalkeeper Fred Woodman could be available. The young Newcastle United stopper was recalled from a loan spell at Crawley Town earlier this season and has made good progress since returning to St James' Park. But with the England Under-19 international failing to sign a new deal with the Magpies, there might be an opportunity for Liverpool to make a move. The Chronicle report that the Anfield club have been made aware of the situation.

The rumours concerning Alex Teixeira moving to Liverpool persist, fuelled yesterday when his manager at Shakhtar Donetsk said he was not keen to keep the forward against his will. “I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship," Mircea Lucescu told FourFourTwo. Shakhtar value the Brazilian at around £38m but Liverpool are reluctant to go higher than £29m.

The Reds have joined the race for Granit Xhaka. Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder throughout the window and now it seems Liverpool want in on the action. It's claimed by Sport Bild that Klopp met with the player's agent in December with a view to getting a deal in place for a move this summer.
