Liverpool transfer news: Inaki Williams, Mahmoud Dahoud and the other January transfers Jurgen Klopp could target
A look at who could move to Anfield in the summer
Sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League and without any European commitments to worry about, Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool side do not initially seem like they need to strengthen.
However, a recent season-ending injury to Danny Ings and Sadio Mane’s month-long involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations has fuelled rumours that Liverpool will look to bring in a forward in January – in fact, Klopp has admitted this himself.
England striker Daniel Sturridge has fallen out of favour and does not seem to suit the German’s demanding system and so a forward will most likely come in this winter.
Klopp is also reportedly keen on improving his defence, as Liverpool have conceded more goals than any club in the top seven of the league. Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have formed the regular partnership at centre-back but there is little back-up behind them. Ragnar Klavan has looked out of his depth and Lucas Leiva is no natural defender.
To the left of them, James Milner has been phenomenal as a makeshift left-back but a natural in that position wouldn’t go amiss.
If Liverpool have as successful a transfer window as they had in the summer, with Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Matip all looking like astute signings, then they will certainly be fighting for the title come May.
