Liverpool are set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Digne, according to reports.

Digne was reportedly a target for Brendan Rodgers as he looks to improve his left-back options with the Frenchman said to be looking to leave PSG.

New signing Joe Gomez started on the left side of defence in Liverpool's opening game of the season, despite normally being seen as a right or centre-back.

The selection did little to reassure Rodgers' current selection of left-backs, Alberto Moreno and Jose Enrique, that their futures at the club were looking healthy.

Digne was said to be on Rodgers' hit list, but is now thought to be on the verge of joining Roma, linking up with manager Rudy Garcia who he worked with previously at Lille.
