Liverpool's sensational transfer raid of Premier League rivals Southampton looks set to continue as Brendan Rodgers closes in on Dejan Lovren while eying a move for Jay Rodriguez.

Last year's Premier League runners-up have already secured the services of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana while Lovren is expected to undergo a medical and complete a £22m move in the coming days.

The Daily Mirror reports this morning that the Reds are also interested in signing England international Rodriguez in a move which would extend Southampton's summer exodus.

Jose Fonte, Lovren's defensive partner, has also been subject to interest from Championship side Cardiff City.

The Saints, now managed by Ronald Koeman after Mauricio Pochettino's departure to Tottenham Hotspur, have seen their ranks depleted by the Premier League's biggest clubs.

Luke Shaw also left the St. Mary's turnstiles swinging in his wake, completing a £30m move to Manchester United, while Calum Chambers looks set for a £16m switch to FA Cup holders Arsenal.

Any move for Rodriguez is likely to infuriate Southampton officials who are desperate to maintain the club's upward trajectory.

Pochettino, now at White Hart Lane, is also rumoured to be considering an offer for the 24-year-old former Burnley man.

As well as Lovren, Liverpool hope to conclude a deal for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy next week as they continue to reinvest the £75m gained by selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

The French international is in Boston, where Liverpool are based for their pre-season tour of the United States, and is expected to complete a medical shortly.
