Although it had been revealed that Ben Chilwell was poised to sign a new contract at Leicester City, rumours are still circulating with regards to his future.

According to the Sun, Liverpool will offer the left-back a five-year contract in an attempt to lure him away from the King Power Stadium, while paying Leicester £8m for the player.

Chilwell spent much of last season on loan to Huddersfield and has returned to the Premier League champions hoping to break into the first team this term. However, the guarantee of a long-term future at Anfield could be enough to persuade him to make the move to Liverpool.

The Red are keeping their options open, however, and have taken former Barcelona left-back Juanma on trial. The versatile defender has joined Michael Beale’s U23s and featured in the side’s 4-1 win over Rhyl FC on Sunday afternoon, in which he bagged himself an assist.

The 19-year-old rose through the ranks as a youngster at Barcelona but left the club this summer after his contract expired.

On the topic of left-backs, PSV’s Jetro Williams has also been linked with a move to Liverpool. According to reports from De Telegraaf, the Reds have made a £13m bid for the defender who could be reunited with his fellow countryman and close friend Georginio Wijnaldum.

Williams’ recent tweet to the former Newcastle man - in which he stated that they will “see each other again soon” - has further fuelled speculation that a move to Anfield is imminent.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is expected to complete his move to Stoke City today, according to the Mirror. Anfield accepted a £13m bid for the Welsh international last week and it’s believed that the midfielder is expected to undergo his medical at Stoke today.

Allen agreed personal terms with the Potters after Mark Hughes convinced him to make the move to the Britannia Stadium. The Welshman joined Liverpool for £15m in the summer of 2012 but has struggled under manager Jurgen Klopp to cement a starting position for himself.

Lastly, Schalke boss Christian Heidel has dismissed rumours of a Max Meyer transfer to Liverpool as nonsense. According to German media outlet Bild, the club has no intention of selling the 20-year-old.

Heidel told the paper: “Max is a really good player, but a move to Liverpool is nonsense.

"I know Klopp a bit, and I have spoken with him recently and I think he would have been determined to speak to me then, if interest had been there. Aside from that, Max is not on our sales list."
