Louis van Gaal has reportedly given his list of transfer targets to Manchester United

With confirmation that Louis van Gaal will become the next Manchester United manager after the World Cup, the Dutchman is now planing for life next season once he is not tied up with his World Cup preparations with the Netherlands.

News broke on Monday that the 62-year-old will replace David Moyes following the World Cup, but the belief is that he has already handed over a list of transfer targets that he would like the club to pursue while he is in Brazil leading the Netherlands national team.

His focus is undoubtedly on the showcase tournament in South America, as he recently revealed in a press conference.

“I have invested a lot of time in this, so you can imagine how very important [the World Cup] is for me and the players. I've been in football for 40 years. In three months I'm 63. So I can manage the situation,” said Van Gaal.

Who is Louis van Gaal?

“You keep focused because of the training sessions, because of the team meetings and the tactical meetings. And because of the passion of the players that play at the world championships. It is always the case that we want to be focused on the competition.”

With United's chief executive Ed Woodward confirming on Thursday that the club will be "active in the transfer market" this summer, the club looks set to go ahead with its squad revamp. Van Gaal will therefore have a reported £150m-£200m available to strengthen a team that could see its biggest changes in a generation, as they look to rebuild the team following their worst season since 1990.

So with Van Gaal’s attentions elsewhere, who could be on his transfer target list?
