Cristiano Ronaldo helped convince Bruno Fernandes to complete Manchester United transfer
After months of speculation the 25-year-old finally signed for United at the end of the January transfer window for £67.6m
Bruno Fernandes has revealed that Portugal team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo helped convince him to quit Sporting for Manchester United.
After months of speculation the 25-year-old finally signed for United at the end of the January transfer window for £67.6m.
He made his debut in a goalless draw with Wolves and produced an encouraging performance despite the poor quality of the game.
United fans already have high hopes that Fernandes will be the man to turn their season around and they have Ronaldo to thank for helping the midfielder to decide to join United.
“Yes, I talked about Manchester United with Cristiano,” Fernandes told Man Utd’s official website.
“He just said good things about United. He said he started living his dream here and he started being a really good player here. I think he is happy with my transfer.
“I also talked with Ole and he said he asked Cristiano about me. And he said good things about me, which is good!
“Cristiano plays with me in the national team and he knows me, and for me he’s a good person. I want to follow his steps.”
