Manchester United sensation Marcus Rashford and full-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are set to sign new, improved long-term contracts, The Independent understands.
The dynamic pair rose to prominence under recently-ousted manager Louis van Gaal with Rashford continuing his remarkable progression by scoring after just two minutes on his England debut in a 2-1 victory against Australia on Friday night.
The 18-year-old United striker became England’s youngest debutant goal-scorer in the process, breaking Tommy Lawton’s 78-year record at the Stadium of Light. Rashford has now scored nine goals in 19 appearances for club and country despite still studying towards his A-Levels at Ashton-on-Mersey School in Sale.
Terms have been agreed to tie down both Rashford and Borthwick-Jackson, 19, who himself earned individual praise during an otherwise turgid campaign for United, but it is understood that contracts are yet to be signed.
Following José Mourinho’s arrival as Van Gaal’s successor last week, United are keen to capitalise on the feel-good factor at Old Trafford by timing the announcement carefully to ensure the greatest commercial impact.
With Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge's England place in severe jeopardy, Rashford, who has a year to run on his current United deal, remains optimistic about his chances of travelling with Roy Hodgson's squad to Euro 2016.
The Wythenshawe-based forward, born a year after England hosted the competition in 1996, is thought to have been offered improved terms on a four-year deal to remain in the North West.

Despite concerns over Mourinho’s suitability to continue Van Gaal’s insistence on youth development, the Portuguese boss is aware of his new responsibilities on Sir Matt Busby Way.
Mourinho, alongside executive chairman Ed Woodward, is expected to secure the signing of free agent Zlatan Ibrahimović in the coming days.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-German striker refused to deny speculation that he was headed for Old Trafford last week.
