Anthony Martial’s agent has offered no assurances that the forward will remain at Manchester United beyond the end of the season, with his place in Jose Mourinho’s squad still under a cloud of doubt.

The 22-year-old is yet to tie down a regular place in the United first team as manager Mourinho chops and changes his squad on a weekly basis, with the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez further bumping the Frenchman down the pecking order and into a rotation with Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.

Martial did attract interest from Arsenal during their talks with United in January as the two clubs negotiated Sanchez’s move to Old Trafford, and while the club made it very clear that Martial was not available, his future remains up in the air.

That’s not to say that Martial has failed at United, having scored 36 goals in 131 appearances along with 27 assists, but given that he remains a player with an enormous potential to develop further there is likely to be significant interest in the former Monaco forward if it turns out that he is available in the summer.

His agent, Philippe Lamboley, has fuelled the flames of a potential exit by refusing to commit Martial to the Premier League club beyond the summer, with Mourinho potentially facing a ‘use me or lose me’ scenario with Martial’s future.

“Will [Martial] stay in Manchester in the summer? At the moment, I cannot say anything else about it,” Lamboley told Il Bianconero.

“His goal is to win the FA Cup and to cement with Manchester United the second place in the Premier League.”

Mourinho is understood to be planning something of an upheaval this summer, although as The Independent reported earlier this month, Martial is not one of the players that the Portuguese is willing to let go.
