Daley Blind has insisted that he will fight to stay at Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, despite reports suggesting that he could be in line to leave the club.

The Holland international was identified as one of the players that could be moved on by the Portuguese coach this summer, as Mourinho looks to embark upon a major rebuilding process at Old Trafford.

Blind, however, is excited about the prospect of working under the former Chelsea manager and is keen to establish himself in his plans.

"I am looking forward to working with Mourinho,” he told NOS. “We will have to wait and see whether anything changes for me.

"I will just give my all and work hard. Mourinho is a manager who has achieved a lot and I am keen to work with him.”

Despite spending most of his career at left-back or in defensive midfield, Blind played as a centre-half for much of the 2015/16 season.

Mourinho has tended to rely on a pairing of two tall and strong defenders in the centre of his backline for much of his career in management and, although he does to match these characteristics, Blind is confident he can renew his partnership with Chris Smalling next season.

"I might not be as big as Pepe, but I think I have shown in the Premier League that I can hold my own defensively. We conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League and I think we got the most clean sheets.

"That's something to be proud of. I played nearly every game and that is a good feeling.

"You might be looking for a certain statement, but I will just give my all under Mourinho."

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Blind’s agent, Rob Jansen, has offered his client around to other clubs since Mourinho’s arrival and Barcelona have been alerted to his availability.

Blind was brought to the club by Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal from Ajax in 2014, as part of a £14million transfer.

Following his compatriot’s dismissal last week, the 26-year-old defended his former manager and claimed he ‘deserved more respect’ during his final months at Old Trafford.
