Sancho is United's priority target and could join by end of week

Manchester United are in no rush to complete transfer business early, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite negotiations for Jadon Sancho reaching an advanced stage.

Sancho could become a United player by the end of this week after positive developments in negotiations between the Old Trafford club and Borussia Dortmund.

United are yet to agree on the structure of a deal which is likely to meet Dortmund’s €120m (£108m) asking price through various add-ons and incentives.

The Bundesliga club are understood to have set a deadline of 10 August for a bid to be tabled, with the Dortmund hierarchy eager to find a replacement Sancho during the current window.

United have moved quickly on their priority transfer target after securing a third-place league finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.

But when asked about forthcoming transfer business on Tuesday, Solskjaer was relaxed about the need to bring players in early.

“This transfer window is a long one and every transfer takes its course,” the United manager said.

“It is what it is at the moment. I’ve got no updates for you anyway. If there is any news, we’ll update you.”

The Premier League’s transfer window only opened on 27 July due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will run for 10 weeks in total, ending on 5 October.

United return to action with the resumption of the Europa League on Wednesday night. Solskjaer’s side face a last-16 decider against LASK Linz at Old Trafford, leading 5-0 from March’s first leg.
