Manchester United transfer news: Juan Mata offered new contract as Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia depart
The midfielder's current deal is due to expire this month
Manchester United have confirmed that Juan Mata has been offered a new contract.
The 31-year-old’s current deal expires this month and there has been a lingering uncertainty over the Spaniard’s future after a decision was made to allow Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia to depart as free agents.
However, Mata, who was subject to interest from PSG, will now have the option to extend his stay at Old Trafford and add to his 218 appearances.
New contracts have also been offered to U23s midfielder Aidan Barlow, goalkeepers Alex Fojticek and Paul Woolston and Italian defender Luca Ercolani.
Regan Poole and James Wilson, who spent last season on loan, have also both been released.
Zak Dearnley, Tom Sang, Callum Whelan and Matty Willock will also leave the club along with Matthew Olosunde, Tyrell Warren, DJ Buffonge, Callum Gribbin, Millen Baars, Josh Bohui and James Thompson.
