Another day, another mountain load of transfer rumours to wade through as the summer window cranks into life.

Manchester United have very much dominated the agenda in recent weeks, with every man and his dog linked to the Old Trafford club.

So far the club have signed Daniel James from Swansea but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attempts to further reinforce his squad have come to nothing.

Solskjaer is also faced with the unenviable challenge of handling a restless Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has made clear his desire to leave United, though the club are insistent that the World Cup winner isn’t going anywhere.

Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are all said to be monitoring the situation – but will it come to anything?

See below for the latest United transfer reports:

Harry Maguire has snubbed Manchester United’s approach and is now poised to seal a world-record £80m move to Manchester City, according to the Mirror.

United were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Leicester defender last summer and appear to have lost out to rivals City this time around, with the Premier League champions said to be prepared to pay the centre-half £280,000 a week.

Solskjaer is still pushing hard but it looks to be in vain.

United have registered their interest in Real Betis’ Junior Firpo, according to Marca.

The Spaniard has a 50 million euro release clause but with Solskjaer eager to bolster his side’s defensive options, the club will have no choice but to meet Betis’ demands should they wish to sign the youngster.

Elsewhere, the Sun is reporting that the club is due to trigger Marcus Rashford’s 12-month contract extension amid fears the 21-year-old could leave next summer.

The forward has stalled on signing a new deal, with his current contract due to expire in 12 months. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be interested in the youngster, who is reportedly demanding £350,000 a week from United.

United would prefer for Rashford to sign a new contract but the matter could be taken out of the club’s hands.

Lastly, Real Madrid have told United to cough up £430m to land Raphael Varane, according to the Daily Express.

With a new centre-back a priority for Solskjaer, the club has been monitoring the market for potential options.

Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly have all been linked for extravagant fees but none have come close to Varane’s asking price.

Los Blancos are not interested in letting the Frenchman go and have told United that they’d need to trigger the player’s astronomical release clause to sign him.
