The 0-0 draw with West Ham at the weekend saw Manchester United's struggle for goals continue, the result marking the fifth goalless game the club have been involved in in nine matches. The club that sells itself on producing teams with attacking flair is rapidly becoming synonymous with boring football.

Manager Louis van Gaal is the focus of supporters' ire, with the lack of goals and negative displays being blamed on the Dutch coach.

When the boos had died down at Old Trafford following the West Ham result, Van Gaal appeared to blame his strike force. The former Netherlands manager suggested other players, such as Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero, would be capable of scoring the chances that went begging on Saturday.

But what about the forwards that Van Gaal has let go since he replaced David Moyes? Could any of them have helped Manchester United find the back of the net more often this term had their departures not been sanctioned by Van Gaal?

Here, we take a look at the forwards that have left the club in the time Van Gaal has been in charge and assess their form to determine whether Van Gaal made a mistake letting them go.
