Manchester United have reportedly reopened talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to bring the Sweden forward back when he recovers from injury.

The 35-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut season at Old Trafford last year before succumbing to a torn cruciate ligament in United’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht in April.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals including 17 in the Premier League and has been United’s training facilities for rehabilitation.

Manager Jose Mourinho has repeatedly hinted over the summer that the forward could return once his return to fitness is complete.

“Maybe he'll stay with us,” Mourinho said following defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

“He's not got a contract, but he's still close to Manchester, and the fact we are involved in the Super Cup now is also his merit.”

Ibrahimovic is expected to be out for up to nine months – meaning a return may not be on the cards until the new year - but he has vowed to return stronger than ever.

With AC Milan and LA Galaxy said to be keeping tabs on the forward, Sky Italia reports that United and Ibrahimovic are in talks about a new deal.
