Marco Reus reportedly ignored a phone call from Louis van Gaal before he agreed to extend his stay at Borussia Dortund.

The German midfielder has long been linked with a switch to the Premier League, including Manchester United, but signed a new long-term deal with his current club. Reus was understood to have had a buyout clause of around £20m that would have been activated this summer, however the new deal has eradicated that.

Before signing his new contract it's alleged that Manchester United manager Van Gaal tried to call the Germany international to sound out the 25-year-old about a possible move to Old Trafford.

But, according to German newspaper Bild, Reus opted not to answer his telephone when the Dutchman called.
