Matteo Darmian to Manchester United: Torino coach confirms Italy right-back will move to Old Trafford
Darmian set to have a medical at United on Friday, according to reports
Matteo Damian will be ‘playing in the Champions League with Manchester United’ next season, Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has confirmed.
The right-back is set to have a medical at Old Trafford on Friday, according to Sky Sport Italia with the Italy international set to complete a £12million, rising to around £14m.
Louis van Gaal turned his attentions to the 25-year-old after missing out on Barcelona full back Dani Alves.
Torino president Urbano Cairo admitted earlier this week that ‘offers have arrived’ for the full back before adding that his future must be resolved by Sunday, and head coach Ventura has now confirmed that Darmian will move to Old Trafford.
"It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United," the coach said.
"Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League so now that dream will be realised.
Ventura continued: "In these four years [since Darmian joined Torino from AC Milan], we've gone from Serie B and a great depression to the top flight and the enthusiasm of the Europa League.”
"We worked with Darmian for many years and it's only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true."
