Liverpool will again try to sign Southampton and England right-back Nathaniel Clyne, according to reports.

Brendan Rodgers had a £10million bid for the 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Manchester United, rejected last month and, report the Liverpool Echo, are ready to go in for the player again.

Southampton value Clyne at around £15million; he has just a year left to run on his current deal and despite offering him a new contract believe he wants to leave St Mary's.

Relations between Liverpool and Southampton aren't at their best after last summer when three players - Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert - switched between the two clubs.

Manchester United may look elsewhere with Clyne apparently more interested in a move to Anfield.

Liverpool are also linked with Charlton teenage defender Joe Gomez.
