Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has mutually cancelled his contract at Internazionale, leaving him free to join any club in the world.
The 34-year-old, who won five Premier League titles, the League Cup three times and the Champions League, has not played a game for Inter this season. Roberto Mancini's men currently sit third in Serie A.
Vidic, whose contract was up at the end of this season anyway, was more involved in the first-tea last team, starting 27 games in all competitions, but he was not the dominant force he had been at Old Trafford.
As The Independent's Mark Ogden reported, Vidic is likely to move to Major League Soccer, but will undoubtedly draw interest from Premier League clubs.
Vidic last played a competitive game on 16 May, a 2-1 defeat to rivals Juventus.
The Serbian arrived at Old Trafford as a relative unknown in December 2005 after Sir Alex Ferguson spent £7million to bring him to the club from Spartak Moscow.
Vidic started slowly at the club before forming a brilliant partnership with former England international Rio Ferdinand.
Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba called the pairing the toughest he had ever come up against.
Some fans of United were quick to appeal to Louis van Gaal to re-sign him - even rivals Liverpool, who have only signed Steven Caulker today, were keen - while others were not so keen on a potential move.
