Nolito to Manchester City: £13.8million Celta Vigo winger becomes Pep Guardiola's second signing

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Nolito from Celta Vigo after meeting the player’s £13.8million release clause.

The 29-year-old winger becomes the second signing of Pep Guardiola’s reign at the Etihad, following the capture of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.

Nolito, who was part of Spain’s European Championship squad this summer, joins the club on a four-year contract having completed a medical.

Guardiola previously worked with Nolito during the pair’s time at Barcelona and handed the player a first-team debut.

Nolito, whose real name is Manuel Agudo Duran, also made over 100 appearances for Barcelona’s B team before moving to Benfica in 2011.

After a moderately successful two-year spell in Portugal, he joined Granada on loan for six months.

On his debut for the club, Nolito forced an own goal out of Cristiano Ronaldo in a famous 1-0 win over Real Madrid.

The winger joined Celta Vigo in 2013 to reunite with Luis Enrique, his former coach at Barcelona B. A year later, he earned his first cap for the Spain national team.

Nolito appeared in each of his country’s games at this summer’s European Championships, including their round of 16 elimination defeat to Italy.
